• August 10, 2003 - Join the The Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra under the stars for our summer Pops concert at the Starlight Bowl on Sunday, August 10 at 6:30 p.m. Under the direction of Conductor Steven Kerstein An Evening of Passion! will be a summer treat of romantic & beautiful music featuring Boléro, the Symphonic Dances from "West Side Story" and a fun medley of swing music showcasing the Big Band style of the 1940's. Guest soloist, Lisa Abel, will perform beautiful arias by Puccini, Gounod and Rogers & Hammerstein. Tickets are $7 per person. Behind the Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra

Maestro Steven Kerstein has been acknowledged as a driving force in the Southern California classical music community. He has commissioned and championed the world premieres of several new orchestral compositions including Cary Belling's Viola Concerto, Aaron Kaplan's Symphonic Fantasy and Lennie Moore's Awaken. In addition, he has been responsible for bringing internationally renowned artists to BPO audiences including Richard Bernstein, Alice and Eleonore Schoenfeld and most recently, Cellist Armen Ksajikian.

The Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra is comprised of some of the finest professional artists in Southern California. In addition to the many gifted musicians in the Burbank area, the orchestra also draws its members from recent immigrants from Mainland China and from the former Eastern-Block nations.

This is the 12th year of public service by the Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra. The BPO is a donor and grant supported non-profit organization dedicated to bringing world-class music free of charge to the entire community.
